The Commonwealth Government collects service information from all service outlets using Disability Service National Minimum Data Set and disseminates annually the statistical data based on that information. The Disability Support Services are divided into seven groups with the total of 34 service types and the disability of users are divided into four groups with the total of 12 sub-groups by the Data Set. The definitions (concept or range) of service type or disability categories are somewhat different with Japanese ones, and therefore a strict comparison is not possible. However some instructive points are shown in the data from the viewpoints of Japanese policy development.
