内容記述 This is the report on the support project for deaf and hard of hearing subsidized by the Japan Foundation (2009-), with the report on the activities before 2009 which led to acquisition of Japan Foundation Subsidy. The author had proceeded with the open lectures in Japanese Sign Language by deaf professors, while establishing a training course for special education teachers, having Japanese Sign Language classes as obligatory credits for the course. In addition, the author researched on access services for students with hearing impairment for 20 years, supporting volunteer note-taker students for JCSW (= Japan College of Social Work) students with hearing impairment.
These two years (2009-2011), subsidized by Japan Foundation, the author and the staff have managed the following; I. Regular general/liberal classes in Japanese Sign Language by deaf professors and giving credits to JCSW students and other students as well by credit transfer system; II. Access services in all classes and seminars taken by hearing impaired students; III. Support for hearing impaired high school students intending to go to college; IV. Training of sign language interpreters and note/PC takers. The project is now aiming at establishing a foothold in higher education and in access services for hearing impaired students.
