| 内容記述 | This study defines “end-of-life support” as carrying out the necessary business of the dying, such as medical care, nursing care, funeral, and burial and aimed to make an international comparison of institutions and policies for “end-of-life support” and to clarify the direction of institutions and policies for “end-of-life support” in a super-aged and death-burdened society. The results of the review of institutions and policies concerning “endof- life support” show that in other countries, support and services for individuals facing death and their families are clearly defined, legislated, and institutionalized, but in Japan, discussions and deliberations have not progressed, and support and services are not fully in place. In a super-aged and death-burdened society, there is a need for institutions and services that support senior citizens to self-determination and respect the wishes in “end-of-life support,” institutions and services that directly support families who provide “end-of-life support,” and “institutions and policies that can directly support senior citizens, families, and others, seamlessly and without interruption before and after death,” which encompass these. |

| 内容記述 | 本研究は、医療、介護、葬儀、埋葬等の「死を迎えるときに必要な諸事を行うこと」 を「看取り」と定義し、この意味での「看取り」をめぐる制度・政策について国際比較を 行い、超高齢多死社会における「看取り」の制度・政策の方向性を明らかにすることを目 的とした。 「看取り」をめぐる制度・政策を概観した結果、諸外国では、死を迎える個人とその家族 等に対する支援やサービスが明確に規定され、法制化・制度化されているが、日本では、 議論や検討が進まず、支援やサービスが十分に整っていないことが明らかとなった。 超高齢多死社会では、高齢者の「看取り」における自己決定支援と意思尊重に対する制 度やサービス、「看取り」を行う家族等を直接的に支援する制度やサービス、そして、これ らを包括する「死の前後で途切れることなく・シームレスに、高齢者と家族等のそれぞれを 直接的に支援し得る制度・政策」が求められると考える。 |
